Did You Not Yearn For Me? is a collaborative project which presents remembering one’s homeland as a reaffirming experience. In the face of distance and change, Saudi photographer Redha Al Hammad and Sudanese writer Dalia Mustafa present an interconnected depiction of home. The work is embodied by a holistic form of remembrance which accepts the homeland from all angles: the fleeting and the everlasting, the warm and the callous, the intimate and the infinitely distant.
The installation was situated in the staircase of Jameel Arts Centre in May of 2024 as part of the Youth Takeover.
This project was comissioned by Art Jameel for the 2024 Jameel Arts Centre Youth Assembly Programme
